Welcome

Hello, and thanks for stopping by. I’m Andre O’Kelly, a printmaker living and working in Dublin, and my creative world revolves around lino relief, drypoint etching, and lithography. My work is rooted in my lifelong fascination with the natural world – its quiet moments, wild beauty, and the stories that emerge when we really pay attention.

I was born in South Africa and grew up surrounded by wildlife, open landscapes, and a deep sense of connection to nature. Those early years shaped everything about how I see the world and continue to inspire the prints I create today. My career path has taken a few twists – from wildlife conservation to film prop-making – but I’ve always found myself drawn back to making art by hand.

In 2022, I returned to Ireland after time away, and something about the landscapes of Galway and Westmeath sparked a fresh wave of creativity. I started sketching and carving again, letting each piece grow slowly from observation, memory, and feeling.

When I make a print, I’m not chasing perfection – I’m chasing presence. Every line I carve and every mark I ink is my attempt to capture life, energy, and emotion on paper. All of my prints are hand-pulled in small editions, so each one carries its own character and story.

This blog is where I’ll share a bit more of that story – the process, the inspiration, and the little details that don’t always make it into the finished work. I hope you’ll follow along, and maybe even find a piece that feels like it belongs with you.
